Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Polish in Dahlia

I know I haven't been posting as promptly as I normally do and as I tried desperately to post just a little something yesterday, Blogger seemed to be having problems and it was impossible to get anything out. The blog's kind of taken a back seat to more pressing matters but I haven't forgotten :) I still have a number of things lined up for the coming days. Really quickly, I wanted to share the swatch of Sally Hansen's Dahlia on my nails. I love a good pink for summer. This one's similar to a good number of things but still not quite the same as anything else I have. It's easy to apply, dries in a reasonable amount of time and is overall, a pretty good polish for the price. I got mine on sale (under $2) but you should be able to find these regularly for around $5.

Dahlia

On a totally unrelated side note, did anyone catch a glimpse of the Byzance de Chanel Collection that popped up on Chanel.com? The quad and the lipstick are looking mighty interesting to me but I'm not biting. I noticed that the quad is $65 and I hate having to pay more for four colors (the other Chanel quads are now $57). The lipstick? Rouge Allure in Rouge Byzantin. I'm not a big red user but something about this struck me as possibly something that I might reach for. I may wait to check it out when it makes my local Nordstrom.

Zoya Free Sunshine or Summertime Collection with Purchase of Color Lock System (offer expired)

I just received an email from Zoya today and they're giving away the entire 6 bottle Sunshine Collection or Summertime Collection if you purchase the Color Lock System. The Color Lock System includes the nail polish remover Remove +, the base coat Zoya Anchor, the Get Even ridge filling base coat, Zoya Armor top coat, Fast Drops for speed drying and Zoya Renew which are described as revitalizing drops for polish (if your nail polish is old and thick, adding a drop of this does the trick - I just felt like rhyming :p)

I've been using the Color Lock System and it's got my seal of approval. Personally, I think the offer is pretty good, especially with free shipping. It looks like you're getting 6 full-size bottles of polish for free! If I didn't just buy the Color Lock System, I would be first in line for this offer. Now the promo codes:

Z22 for the Sunshine Collection
Z33 for the Summertime Collection

If you go to the Zoya website, just add the Color Lock System to your cart and enter one of those two codes at checkout. Shipping should be free as well. The offer is good TODAY ONLY June 28 until 11:59pm EST and only in the US. For more information, go to Zoya's blog (that's a clickable link).

***NOTE: I am not affiliated with Zoya or Art of Beauty, Inc. I am sharing this offer with you because I received it and I thought it was good. I do not receive compensation (of any kind) for posting such offers on my blog.

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Plum Radiance

I got this blush as part of a GWP sometime ago and I wanted to feature it because I saw that it's going to be part of the "Classic Chic Color Collection" that the brand is putting out for the upcoming Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I got a quick peek at the catalog and I've already prepared my wish list :)

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique

As part two of my Chanel fall preview, let me show you the new cream eyeshadow that I got. This shade is called Mirifique and it's a very sparkly, glittery black.

Chanel Quadra Eye Shadow in Prelude

Could I resist the 2011 Fall Makeup from Chanel? Absolutely not. Free shipping? Ok. So I went and ordered 2 items to satisfy my curiosity. First up, the new quad in Prelude, which features a series of taupes and beiges. This is the quad I've been waiting for. If you know me, the beige-taupe combo is my ultimate go-to shade pairing. While perhaps not the most exciting combination of shades to look at in the pan, I predict that this is going to be the most used up Chanel quad in my collection.

Essence Single Eyeshadows Wild At Heart and Blockbuster

Here are a couple more Essence eyeshadows that I've been able to try out. These are singles and I picked up one matte and one metallic shade.

Philosophy Amazing Grace - Perfumed Shampoo, Bath and Shower Gel

I find summer to be a great time to be testing new soaps and shower gels. I had a couple of these promotional 4 oz. tubes of Philosophy Amazing Grace waiting to be used up so they landed on my shower caddy a few weeks ago.

Longchamp Sale Starts Today!

The Longchamp sale officially started today June 21st. In the state I live in, there is not a single Longchamp boutique. While it seems simple enough to drive to Jersey, I'd really much rather sit in my quiet kitchen with a Starbucks frappuccino and browse online. Few selections catch my eye. Oftentimes, I feel so peeved that these bags cost so much in the US when I know for a fact how much less they are sold for in Paris. Even on sale, the price doesn't seem fair. How does one get the best price for these things?

I'm not one to buy from eBay or some lady hawking bags at my doorstep. I would only buy direct from the manufacturer or an authorized retailer. I just need to be sure I'm getting original merchandise. I've ordered from the Longchamp website before. I've had at least one extended bad experience with them. I will not go into detail simply because it's too long a story. In the end, one order was cancelled because they could no longer locate the item in their stocks. I've ordered by phone from a boutique as well. No problems there. But all of these times I was unhappy not to have gotten an offer for free shipping. Why must I pay for shipping when I can get the same merchandise from a merchant who will give me free shipping?

Guerlain Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadow in Havana

I was so excited when Guerlain came out with this new cream eyeshadow in a tube. I had been using my Chanel Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadows since the weather warmed up and I thought that this product would be a good alternate. For my test run, I purchased Havana.

Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Corail

There's nothing like the threat of being discontinued to make me appreciate a product more. I find myself digging for soon to be unavailable items from my drawers more frequently these days. For some items, it's no loss but for others, it's a real shame.

Essence Eyeshadow Duos Ever Glam, Mix It and Join The Club

Back in March, I reviewed the Essence Perfect Match Eyeshadow Duo and I mentioned that I picked up 3 more of these duos which I will be swatching from time to time. Of course, they sat there amongst a hundred other eyeshadows and I had forgotten all about them! It wasn't until I started depotting eyeshadows to put into customizable palettes that I remembered I had these.

What I've learned about the Chanel Glossimer

This post is part of the "What I have learned" feature that I write occasionally on my blog. I have intended to write an extended post about Chanel Glossimers for ages. I remember writing a blurb on an old blog, when all I had were my first four Glossimers (pictured below). Now I have a few more. And this is what I've learned from buying and using them.

My "first four": Spark, Praline, Magnifique and Meteore

You also get 3 free samples with your order. Just select UPS Overnight at checkout. The offer is for today only, June 16, and it ends right before midnight CST. I have discussed the 3 different tinted moisturizers and various foundations from the brand here. The oil-free tinted moisturizer is one of my staples for summer. If you click on the Laura Mercier tag below, you will also find links to various Laura Mercier products I've reviewed.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Bel Ami

I talked about Bel Ami in a top 5 feature last April (see post here). I had purchased a few of the new Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks and it was an easy favorite. Described as a plum brown, the color is more pigmented than the other shades I have and it looks very natural and pretty on.

Zoya Dove and Caitlin Nail Polish

I've shown you Marley, from the Zoya Intimate Collection. I ordered a bunch of items from the brand and with the purchase, received the other two bottles of nail polish from the collection for free. The promotion, I believe, was to introduce people to their "french twist" which uses the colors Dove and Caitlin on an updated French Manicure. Caitlin is used as the base, Dove for the tips. Probably not a look I'll be wearing anytime soon but the colors, separately, are actually rather nice.

Bare Escentuals Hydrating Mineral Veil

I've been trying to go through samples that have accumulated on my vanity for trial. As the weather has warmed up, I figured I'd give mineral makeup another go and used my sample of Bare Escentuals Hydrating Mineral Veil.

Zoya Marley Nail Polish

I've had a chance to swatch three shades of nail polish from the Zoya Intimate Collection and I picked out my favorite from the bunch. Let me show you the bottles of the ones I have.

Sephora Collection Advanced Airbrush Set

A few months back, I purchased the Sephora Advanced Airbrush Set which features 5 brushes in a zip up case. The brushes are all synthetic and appear to be similar to or the same as the brushes from the Sephora Platinum line.

NARS Orgasm Nail Polish

I'd been messing around with a bottle of NARS Orgasm Nail Polish. I bought it thinking that peachy pink nails with a golden sheen would be very cool for summer.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Evasion

I wanted to share a few pictures of the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Evasion. I have swatches of this shade in another post but I think that the next few pictures will be quite interesting.

Almay Intense I-Color Powder Shadow in Trio for Greens 024

I was looking to try a different color palette one afternoon and found this trio in a pile with some other Almay eyeshadows. I had picked up all the trios I found on sale early this year. Even if I don't have green eyes, I thought I might be able to make it work.

Top 5 - June 2011

I've been a little bored lately. Not that I haven't been busy because it's been very hectic around here in the last two weeks. I've had guests coming in and out that I barely have time to get the house ready and catch up on my laundry, not to mention my blog! But as far as makeup goes, I haven't found as many interesting things or worthwhile bargains to write about. It's good in that it challenges me to find features to focus on and it means my spending is on hold. But I am so ready for July. Bring on the fall collections! Well, we're not there yet. But these are some of the things that have captured my attention lately:

1. Orange - There's a page on the June issue of In Style magazine that got me to rethink orange for my wardrobe. So I went out and bought a couple of orange tanks, one striped and one solid, to layer together. I'm really liking the polka-dotted scarf but I already have a couple of orange scarves (one striped and one solid, do you see a pattern here?). Orange nails next? Well let's just say I'd like to keep the orange on just one spot at a time.

Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15: Bamboo Pink and Stellar Plum

My Clinique order finally arrived yesterday. It included the GWP with the cute little keychain and mini glosses. Clinique gift time means a whole slew of products to try out but I thought I'd swatch the glosses for you now, just because I've already reviewed something from this line of lip glosses before (review for Guavagold here).

Shiseido The Makeup Powdery Foundation SPF 15

In warm weather, I prefer the lightest liquid foundation that I can find. Most days, tinted moisturizer is really all I'm game for. So for my powder, I want more than what my regular translucent setting powder can give. A lightweight foundation powder with buildable coverage that won't cake up with reapplication is in order.

Essie Lion Around Nailpolish

For 2011, Essie released a Resort Collection that fell between the Spring and Summer. It seems little publicized that most people went straight to the summer colors. However, this beautiful dusty pink with a subtle shimmer caught my eye. The shade is called Lion Around.

Essie Lion Around

I've been finding more pigmented colors in the Essie line as of late and this makes me happy. Lion Around, in particular, is an all-occasion neutral that I'm glad to add to my collection. It applies perfectly opaque in two coats. I'm certain I'll be going back to this one quite often.

Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser

It doesn't matter that June just rolled around. It's definitely feeling like summer here. For me, that also means my skincare regimen gets a little tweaking. It means I can finally bring out cleansers that I save for warm and humid months and switch to lightweight moisturizers.
