Maybelline Express Finish Nail Color in Pink Burst

Back to some fresh nail colors for the summer. I grabbed the neon pink Zoya in Renee and this Maybelline Express Finish Nail Color in Pink Burst on a recent trip to Ulta. I had never seen this shade anywhere else so I was happy to take it home with me.

Zoya Nail Polish in Renee

I walked into the nearest Ulta hoping to scope out Essie's Summer 2011 collection only to find the entire tray completely empty. However, to my surprise, the store now carries Zoya nail polish. I was completely thrilled as I had never tried the brand. I went home with the color Renee and a Maybelline limited edition shade called Pink Burst (which I'll talk about within the week).

Renee looks to me like a solid pink shade with fuschia leaning and a cream finish. Zoya's website describes it as an "ultra-bright red-toned medium neon pink creme." Upon application, I think I agree with the part that said ultra-bright and neon pink creme but I don't know about red-toned. Either way, I'm thrilled with the way it applied. It's very smooth, the color is so vibrant and fully-opaque in two coats. I'll show you the swatch on my hands which dried down to a somewhat matte finish. Top coat makes it glossy and totally awesome.

I've been wearing this on my toes since I got it (a week and a half). Not a chip in sight so far. If all colors apply and wear this well, I think I've just found a new favorite brand.

Bare Escentuals 100% Natural Lip Gloss in Rose

Bare Escentuals 100% Natural Lip Gloss in Rose

I had a few of these sample size Bare Escentuals lip glosses in the shade Rose that I'd given away to friends before. I got them in a Sephora lip set awhile back. The sample size looks exactly the same as the regular lip gloss except the tube is a little shorter.

Benefit CORALista

With my last Sephora.com purchase, I was able to receive a deluxe sample of one of Benefit's boxed powders. The deluxe sample of CORALista is in a tiny square pan with .1 oz. of product, housed in a cute plastic case with the cover mimicking the look of the original CORALista box.

Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Primer

I want to introduce my summer primer. This is the primer I turn to when the weather warms up. The Make Up For Ever Microperfecting Primer comes in several shades but I just use shade 0 (Neutral) which is basically a colorless primer that adds luminosity to skin.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Morning Rose

Chanel Le Vernis in Morning Rose

For summer, Chanel released 3 nail colors. The yellow (Mimosa) didn't appeal to me in the least and the beige (Beige Petale) one was ultra-sheer and felt too ordinary. It just wasn't a color that I needed. I liked the shimmering gold specks in Morning Rose and thought it was worth a try.

Top 5

This week's top 5 features some previously reviewed items which I find myself reaching for a lot these days and a couple of new essentials that I've picked up along the way.

1. Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner in Rose Platine - I cannot get enough of this sparkly platinum shade! I use a black cake eyeliner and then this on top. Then I line the bottom lashes with it, pop on mascara and the look is done. I think that this is limited edition. I may grab a back up.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula

If you've received your June 2011 issue of Allure magazine, then you've probably seen the results of the Reader's Choice Awards. Honors for the top department store facial scrub went to Clinique's 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula.

Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Woppin' Watermelon

Clinique "Chubby Stick" Moisturizing Lip Color Balm

Sometimes I still get surprised. Like when I got one of these Clinique "Chubby Sticks". I didn't know that I was going to fall in love! What I have here is the color Woppin' Watermelon. It's a cool, bright pink with a creamy, shiny finish.

L'oreal Nail Polish in Ragin' Cajun and Fleur De Lis

If you follow my blog by email, you may have received this post last Thursday. The post has not been restored and neither has any other content that was deleted during the Blogger predicament last week. I am reposting this for the sake of record.

Perusing Target half-price bins, I found a few L'Oreal nail polishes on sale and decided to pick up two colors.

Sonia Kashuk Nail Color in Jammin

I like bright pink toes especially in the summer and thought I'd give the Sonia Kashuk line at Target a go. I got 18 Jammin and I think it's pretty true to the color in the bottle: a bright, almost fuschia pink with a cream finish. Not completely unique, I know, and I do have a few other bright pinks that compete for attention. But I was surprised that it applied so well. To show you the color, I thought I'd try it on the hands. I fully intend to have this shade on my toes once I tire of Essie's Sweet Talker.

Blogger Issue Update

Sunday is almost over and it doesn't look like Blogger will be re-posting my deleted posts or restoring all pre-written content that haven't been posted. I've noticed that the pictures remain on Picasa so I'm still hoping that, while chances are slim, content may be restored. I'm giving it a couple more days. If there is still no progress, I'm planning to re-write those entries and post them on Thursday and Friday this week. In the meantime, I will have new items up beginning tomorrow, possibly a new feature beginning Saturday and the top 5 on Sunday.

Cheers to all who kindly follow the blog and if there's anything that you want me to feature, drop me a comment or an email. If I have it, I'll be sure to write about it :)

Blogger Problem

If you've been following this blog, you know that everyday, there is a post for you. Fellow bloggers are probably having the same issue, in that the dashboard becomes in accessible for periods and scheduled posts do not get posted. I had two scheduled posts (for yesterday and today). Neither of them went up on the assigned time. I was able to get around the bug and post something around 1pm EST on May 12, but for some reason, when I checked it this morning, this post was taken down and Blogger has assured that they will repost it as soon as possible. As of now, I am still waiting. I am unable to post something new because all of my completely written drafts have been completely deleted. All the entries I have pre-written to post are now gone. I sincerely hope that Blogger resolves all the issues and all the data lost can be recovered. It is rather frustrating to have to write posts all over again.

I will be on "blog holiday" for the rest of the weekend and hope that is enough time for Blogger to resolve all issues. If all goes well, we'll be back to work on Monday. Have a good weekend.

Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder 01

Bronzer is a bit like foundation, in my opinion. Some people like it heavy, some want it light. Some put it all over their face and others in just a few select spots. I've tried a lot of bronzers in my lifetime. I go through a slew of new ones every year. This year, I finally went for the splurge and I think I've hit the jackpot.

Laura Mercier Riviera Eye Quad Swatches and some blue eyeliners

If you read my review of the Riviera Eye Quad posted yesterday, I didn't include any swatches so I'm going to have them here in this post. Here is a close up of the quad again.

Guerlain Lip Pencil in Cupidon

I was curious about this controversial lip pencil by Guerlain. Cupidon is a shimmery light beige lip pencil that I've been told, is properly used to enhance the cupid's bow. I tried it and it works!

A bunch of sheer pink lipcolors

I was going through a pile of lipsticks and thought I'd show you a few sheer pinks that I found in my stash. I did a quick swatch comparing them to the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy, just to have a reference point.

Essie Nailpolish in Sweet Talker

Essie has widened availability and you can pretty much find it at any general merchandise store now. I used to be able to get them only at salons or at Ulta. Target has a limited selection but they do carry a good number of shades. I thought about getting the blue shade Coat Azure from the spring collection but opted instead to grab Sweet Talker.

Rimmel Glam'Eyes Trio Eye Shadow in 621 Orion

I have a few other Rimmel items that I haven't gotten around to reviewing. First, an eyeshadow trio of neutrals. I've noticed that Rimmel has repackaged all their eyeshadows. They are now all branded with the Glam'Eyes monicker. This trio, in Orion, features a white, brown and a shimmery pinkish brown shade.

Chanel Long Lasting Eyeliner in Rose Platine

I presented my favorite eyeliners last Sunday and I mentioned Chanel's Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner. I like this line of pencils because they truly are long lasting. But Chanel also makes very interesting colors, like their latest, Rose Platine. It's easy to overlook its release with the summer collection but I have to say, this is a real gem.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Blendable Powder Blush & Highlighter in Spring Flower

I wanted to call this post my Rimmel Rediscovery. I had been doing some spring cleaning, which involves going through my makeup and creating a "toss" bin. So in that bin of neglected makeup, I found this Rimmel blush called Spring Flower.

Top 5 - Eyeliner Edition

For this week's top 5, I've chosen my 5 favorite pencil eyeliners. These are the pencils I regularly use and recommend for different purposes.

1. Revlon ColorStay Eyeliner - For an all-purpose eyeliner in the budget category, Revlon is hands down the best I've tried. This lines smoothly and stays put. I just use black and it works perfectly every time. Best of all, it's widely available so I know it's one I can buy easily if I was on a trip and forgot my eyeliner (although this will likely never happen).
