Butter London 3 Free Nail Lacquer in Fash Pack

While I never hooked on to the entire Particuliere craze, I thought I should give taupe nails a shot. As I'd never seen a Butter counter anywhere, I had to order this color sight unseen. This shade is called Fash Pack.

Target Sale JK Jemma Kidd Update

I hope the week of nail stuff has been worthwhile. I do have one more nail polish to feature tom but after that, it's back to makeup. This week, I'll be featuring the Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Kit for the face and a few eye products. Speaking of which, have you had a chance to check out the JK Jemma Kidd display at your favorite Target? I mentioned last time that there are some lipstick shades now on clearance (about 3 shades, I think) and an eyeliner set. I noticed today that there was also one shade of the On Set Mattifying Powders on sale. It was too light for me though so I didn't pick it up. I did swatch a couple of the I-Tech Liquid Eyeliners that were on sale. I think about 3 shades were marked down from $16 to $11.20. Here are two of them.

CND Base and Top Coat

I have tried a few different brands of base coat and top coat and this duo is my current favorite, Creative Nail Design's Stickey Anchoring Base Coat and Super Shiney Top Coat.

Sephora Collection Nail Polish Corrector Pen

I used to have real trouble getting the perfect manicure. I suppose it took me awhile to get the technique down. But while practice makes perfect, the right tools certainly help. After I'd tried some kind of glorified Q-tip called Nail Tees (basically a cotton swab with a pointed tip) and then cotton wrapped around a pointy stick (too troublesome for me), I knew I needed to get something that would make my life easier.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Pulsion

Chanel Le Vernis in Pulsion

When Chanel came out with a hot pink nail polish for the holidays, I thought it was kind of, well, not so appropriate. Pink and brown for Christmas? But as pink and brown are some of my favorite colors, it was worth investigating.

What attracted me to Pulsion, even if I felt like it was an easily dupeable pink color, was the fact that when I tried it on at the counter, the pigmentation was so opaque. It applied so well that I thought, if I passed on Riviera and every other pink they'd come out with in the last few seasons, I had an excuse to pick up Pulsion.

Sephora Collection Stimulating Lavender Cuticle Oil Pen

While I originally balked at Solar Oil's $10 price tag, I later found myself not thinking too much about the price when I picked up Sephora's Lavender Cuticle Oil Pen. The 20% coupon sure helped. But still, $12 for a mere 0.05 oz. seems a bit much when I can get 10 times more product for a little less.

Solar Oil

It seems so fundamental, I imagine I could just grab a bottle of Johnson's baby oil and apply it on my cuticles. This is what went through my head when I went into Ulta to have a look at Creative Nail Design's Solar Oil and saw that it was in the vicinity of $10. Of course, I had a coupon and that helps. And this bottle would be more convenient to apply since it's in a small bottle with a brush. Ok fine, I'll get it.

Cuticle Care Trio

I never really thought too much about cuticle care until I started doing my own nails. I used to have my toenails painted professionally in the summers and I did notice the dry cuticles more when they had polish on. But it wasn't that big an issue that I felt I needed to invest in cuticle care products until I decided that I wanted my hands done too.

I started with one product, Creative Nail Design's Solar Oil, which I'd read about in a magazine. Then I decided to pick up their Solar Balm as well, because I wanted something I could carry with me but didn't want a bottle of oil in my purse. That didn't work out too well so I went looking for something else that's convenient to lug around. Browsing Sephora.com, I spied their cuticle oil pen so I thought I'd try that one.

Here's a snap of the trio.

Evian as Toner

Before you dismiss me as another fool who thinks Evian is worth its weight in gold, I need to clarify that I don't think it's the Evian that is the miracle component here. It's water. I think water is amazing.

Clinique Facial Soap

I ordered the Clinique Three Little Soaps with Travel Dish online a very long time ago. I put the package in my stash of travel goodies and completely forgot about it for I'd say a few years. The question here really is, does soap go bad? Well, as I've discovered, my soaps seem perfectly fine.

Fresh Umbrian Clay Face Treatment

I read some interesting things about the Fresh Umbrian Clay Face Treatment so I wanted to give it a try. The article that I read hailed it as a miracle for clearing up breakouts. Although I expected it to be somewhat pricey, I was shocked to discover that the 3.4 oz tube was $48. Even with the 20% off coupon, I was still coughing up 40 bucks so I went into this with somewhat high expectations.

L'Occitane Fabulous Serum

Being in the thick of winter, I was looking to layer on the moisture by regularly using a moisturizing serum with a face cream. I've been happy with L'Occitane's shea butter products so I thought I'd give the facial care items a try. I got the Fabulous Serum.

L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Cream Cleanser

If you've been browsing the facial cleanser aisles, you will undoubtedly run into the L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Cream Cleanser with the little scrublet. When it went on sale at Target, I thought I'd give it a go.

I labored over which of the Go 360 Cleansers to bring home and finally settled on the Deep Cream Cleanser.

The search is on...

Winter is here again and my search continues for the emperor of all facial care products. Well, I'm looking for a few things really. A cleanser, a serum, a moisturizer and maybe a toner. I'm fairly loyal to certain facial cleanser and moisturizer combos that I would buy them over and over but I always wonder, is there something better? There's one combo in particular, that I've been using for years.

What I've learned about buying makeup online

I love makeup and I often buy things online, so why not makeup? For me, the primary goal with every makeup purchase is to get the right product at the best price. The right product being subjective to my needs or wants at the moment. The best price is simply the lowest cash out with the most return. Sometimes, I buy makeup online because I can't find it in the store. Sometimes, I do it to save money. So if you're buying makeup online, here's what you need to do:

1) RESEARCH: I research, a lot, before I buy anything over $3. By research, I mean going online and reading about it. I try to go to the manufacturer's website to read about the product intentions and the recommended method of using it. I read online reviews from blogs and merchant sites, to see what experiences other people have had with it. If I can find it in a store, I'll go and swatch it or try it on, if I can.

Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen

I'd been meaning to review this eyeliner for ages. I got this Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen with the Classic Nudes Collection kit that included the eyeshadow quad In The Buff.

Revlon Beyond Natural Cream To Powder Eye Shadow Quad in Peach

I'd been picking up a number of Revlon products lately. Not so much because I was in search of something but I kept coming across these items on clearance. A few weeks ago, I was able to get the Beyond Natural Cream to Powder Eye Shadow Quad in Peach.

Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope Eye Kit Le Cirque

Walking through Neiman Marcus one time, I spied a Le Metier De Beaute counter. Although I purchase most of my beauty products from Nordstrom, my local Nordies does not have a LMdB counter. I took the chance to layer on a few of the kaleidoscope eye kits on my hand and fell in love with Le Cirque.

The shades are, from the top (and as described on the Neiman Marcus website), flamboyantes (shimmering stone), spectacle (a mauve-tinted grey), enrichissant (midnight ruby) and dynamique (deep sapphire). I'll have individual pictures in various lighting later in this post.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I have owned this palette since August 2010 and while I don't normally let such popular items sit unreviewed for that long, I could not bring myself to write the review! Upon first use, I really hated this palette. My initial experience was nothing short of complete dismay. It was all the glittery fallout that did it. After which, I shoved the palette into the back of my eye makeup drawer, never to be used again.

Laura Mercier Powder Fan Brush

I've had the chance to use my Laura Mercier Powder Fan Brush for a few weeks now and I really love it. It's a duo-fibre brush in a fan shape that's designed for the new Invisible Loose Setting Powder of Laura Mercier.

Elf Lip Book/Sephora Refillable Lipstick Palette

I forgot to mention it yesterday but I've also seen some holiday release Elf Beauty Books out on the clearance bins. Elf is known for their dollar cosmetics but these books are typically $5 a pop. Before they came out with holiday lip books, they had this old one out. The concept is exactly the same so you get the idea.

I got mine for $1.25 before the additional discount and tax. The ones I've seen lately have a black cover and were released in time for the Christmas rush. I like the packaging on this one. I figured that if the lipsticks turn out to be useless, I could scoop them all out and put other lipsticks in the pans.

What I've learned about getting the best price for drugstore makeup

It's very rare that I'd be willing to pay full price for drugstore cosmetics. So rare, in fact, that I don't remember the last time that I did. While you could walk into say a Walgreens and find Buy One Get One Half Off offers fairly often, that really only means you're getting 25% off of what is already a slightly inflated price. Occasionally they will have clearance items, but not everyone has the time to wait.

CVS has spruced up their cosmetics department and they have a beauty rewards card as well. If you buy other things from that pharmacy, extra bucks promotions may be of interest, which when combined with manufacturer coupons you can find in the paper or online, could help cut down costs. You might want to note that Walgreens does not take coupons printed out from a computer. CVS might though.

L'Oreal HIP Jelly Balm in Succulent

I can't live without lip balm. Chapstick, Burt's Bees, Soft Lips, you name it. I've used them all. I have one stashed around every corner of the house like a box of Kleenex (I have one of those everywhere too). What hasn't worked for me as well are tinted lip balms. In pretty much all formulations I've tried, I like the clear product and was not happy with the tinted one. But I thought I'd give L'Oreal HIP Jelly balms a try. I picked the pink shade, 520 -Succulent.

For the 2010 holidays, Chanel released another Les Minis de Chanel brush set. The brushes are not the same as the brushes in the 2009 holiday set although it is packaged pretty much the same way.

NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo

The NARS Rajasthan Duo was one of the limited edition items from the Fall 2010 collection of NARS.
